With Winter Formal quickly approaching, many find themselves running around the mall for a whole day or scouring the internet for hours to find the perfect outfit. As this daunting task looms over many heads one may wonder where to find the best locations and most popular trends for this year’s dance.
In previous years dress shopping was an annual in-person tradition amongst teenagers, but new trends have emerged with the rise of online shopping in recent years.
“I got my dress in person at Dillard’s but most of my friends are getting theirs on online stores like Princess Polly, Hello Molly and Lucy in the Sky,” stated freshman Aubrey Happ.
The shift from in-person shopping to online is a change that occurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic and it seems to have stuck around. While many are now searching on the internet for their dresses, there are still some commonalities between trends.
“I have mostly seen silk, strapless and sequin patterns on the dresses this year. I am also going to guess that a lot of people will be wearing bows,” disclosed Happ.
No matter where the dress was obtained and what it looks like the event will still be a special occasion for many high school students.
“Being able to spend the day getting ready, going out to dinner and ending it with dancing seems like a perfect day to me,” exclaimed junior Zoe Marquez.
