The Free Application for Student Aid, more commonly referred to as FAFSA, was opened on the first day of December by the Federal Student Aid office, and while being an overall positive thing to look forward to, many have felt the stress of the application process.
Although the stressful sentiment is shared among many and is understandable, North Polk High School has provided many resources for current seniors to ease their minds.
On Monday, Dec. 2, counselor Jessica Allen sent an email to students announcing a variety of information including availability to talk with Jo Riley (Des Moines Area Community College representative), the dates are as follows:
Usually, it is advised to get one’s application for the federal aid as soon as possible, and depending on the university one decides to commit to, the due dates may require speedy action.
One can find out the deadlines for their preferred Iowa school on the Iowa Department of Education website.
Furthermore, as the email stated, students and their guardian must fill out their Federal Student Aid Identification at least three days in advance before beginning to fill out their application.
Moreover, for seniors, more information about said student aid, tips on filling out the application and more information on scholarships and college payments can be found in the Class of 2025 class on Google Classroom.
