Everything You Need to Know About Homecoming Week 2022

Homecoming is quickly approaching, and with it comes sports events, celebrations and traditions. 

Below is a guide to everything that is going on during Oct. 3-7. 

Theme and Dress Up Days

This year the theme for homecoming week is, “North Polk Battle of the Stars.” This is a nod to a Hollywood theme, as well as the fact that the football team is playing Ballard. 

Additionally this year, the school district has decided to do district wide dress up themes during the week of homecoming. Below is the list of dress up themes. 

Monday: Pajama 

Tuesday: Hawaiian/tacky tourist

Wednesday: North Polk Has Your Back (school provided shirt) and at the high school, “Everything but a backpack” day. 

Thursday: Be a star

Friday: North Polk Spirit 

Sports

Below is the list of all sports events going on during homecoming week. All games are at North Polk unless stated otherwise. 

Monday: 

  • Volleyball JV1 and Freshman Invitational at 4:30 p.m. at Carlisle 
  • JV/Varsity Cross Country meet at 5 p.m.
  • Freshman Football game at 5 p.m.
  • Volleyball JV2 Quadrangular at 5:30 p.m. at Gilbert 
  • JV Football at 6:30 p.m. 

Tuesday: 

  • Volleyball JV1 match and Freshman match at 5:30 p.m.
  • Volleyball Varsity match at 7:30 p.m. 

Wednesday: 

  • No sporting events 

Thursday: 

  • No high school sporting events 

Friday: 

  • Varsity football game at 7 p.m.

Traditions

This year the school has really made an effort to make Pride Night as eventful as possible. 

On the night of Thursday, Oct. 6, the school will have: 

  • Food trucks and inflatables from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. 
  • Homecoming Coronation on the football field at 7 p.m. 
  • Pride Night on the field at 7:30 p.m.
  • Powder puff game on the field at 8:20 p.m. 

The homecoming parade will be in Elkhart this year starting at 1:45 p.m.
