With the start of a new year and a new semester students, teachers continue to adjust to new schedules. Along with these changes come shorter days and busier schedules compared to the couch-dwelling many experienced during winter break. I find myself with another responsibility added to the roster, newspaper editor!

My name is Addy Happ and I am a junior who will be the newest addition to “The Orbit” this year.

I am joining so I can have more writing experience (even if it means writing in the infamous AP style) and feel so lucky to be paired with writer extraordinaire, Zoe Marquez. I will be helping out with polls, “People in the Halls” and weekly stories.

I was highly encouraged to join the newspaper by Jessica Trier and was initially introduced to the Journalism department by Lyndsey Dose, who convinced me to take an Introduction to Journalism class. While I did not enjoy the weekly tests over AP style, I did enjoy writing stories about events happening around our school and hopefully, as an editor, I can expand to events happening worldwide.

I am nervous to take on “The Orbit” workload along with the increased hecticness of the overall winter season. However, the excited feeling overwhelms the nervousness as I pursue new challenges!
