Heidi Schoenberg, JP student writer

Junior Heidi Schoenberg is a first-year journalism student but has high hopes for the program. She is excited to be a part of the foundations of The Orbit Newspaper. Schoenberg joined the journalism program to write interesting stories. She said, “I like sharing stuff that people aren’t usually aware of.” Her favorite assignment in journalism production class so far has been choosing her own topic to write an article about.

While Schoenberg loves to write, there are lots of other activities she enjoys doing as well. In school, she also participates in speech where she has placed in State twice and is striving to achieve more. Outside of school, she spends her time doing art projects, playing the piano and the ukulele. On top of that Schoenberg loves to listen to indie, rock and rap music in her free time.

Schoenberg hopes that this experience helps influence her decisions in the future. Although Schoenberg has no definitive career she wants to pursue, writing is something she is definitely interested in. Schoenberg explains why writing sparks her interest, “I want to go to different countries and write about stuff happening there that people aren’t aware of.” She’s hoping that North Polk Communications will “be a good kickstart” for finding out if writing is her future.
