Matthew May, Broadcast Editor
Senior, Matthew May, is a Broadcast Editor at North Polk. May became interested in broadcasting when English teacher, Tia Stubbs, asked him to call North Polk basketball games during COVID when the fans could not attend. May is now in his second semester as a broadcast editor.
May’s favorite part of broadcasting is, “The ability to have a creative mindset and create things.”
You can also spot May on the soccer field at North Polk playing mostly on the defensive side of the ball. He also plays soccer outside of North Polk high school, playing for a recreational team.
Outside of school May attends many youth groups. In his free time he says he likes to play poker, hangout with friends and gamble on sports teams. Gambling on sports teams has been a problem for May this school year; he lost a bet with Drew Hemesath over the Cy-Hawk football game and had his head shaved. May’s favorite sports team is the Green Bay Packers.
After high school he plans to attend a Christian college for pastoral studies.
When asked how he would describe himself to someone who has never met him, May said, “Outgoing in a way, distracting, and always looking for a good time.”
