The Orbit

Sophie Hoffmeier

Sophie Hoffmeier of Polk City is a senior at North Polk and has been in Journalism since January 2020, alongside Aden Burdine and Maggie Baumgardner. She initially joined the program just for fun, but became very involved with article writing, and eventually published a few on the online newspaper, The Orbit. Her favorite part of journalism is the story-building and writing.

Hoffmeier is involved in many extracurricular activities, including marching band and symphonic band, where she plays bass clarinet. She also participates in choir, jazz choir, musical, play, and speech. Her favorite classes aside from these fine arts programs are Journalism and Women Writers.

After high school, Hoffmeier plans to attend the University of Northern Iowa to major in English, and potentially minor in Psychology.
